Haute Couture AW12 - Maison Martin Margiela.

I've been a bit behind blogging about my favourite catwalk shows lately but one that I just couldn't let go of is the first Haute Couture collection by Maison Martin Margiela. As soon as I saw the encrusted jewelled faces of the models, I knew I would love everything else after that! I loved the long and lean silhouettes, the opulent crystal doorknobs and the patched lace looks. The simple colour palette of white, black and coral was perfect as to me, it was all about the craftwork! A very memorable collection.

Film Review: Warrior (2011)

I only wanted to watch this film for the fighting but I wasn't sure if I could cope with the storyline which sounded a little boring at first. After watching the first 10 minutes with my sister, we weren't sure if we could even continue to watch as it was so slow and picture-wise, it was quite dull and depressing! However, the latter was obviously for the mood of the film and after getting past the slower scenes, the film finally kicked into place and my sister and I were glued to the screen! The fight scenes were incredible and I often forgot that I was watching a film because the storyline was so well written...we felt a lot of emotion for the characters. Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton were fantastic to watch, they were both interesting characters, I never felt that one was better than the other.
This film is definitely under-rated and I would absolutely recommend it for all!! I can't believe I almost didn't watch it!!!

Injustice: Gods Among Us.

I am very 'old school' when it comes to computer games and if anyone asks me what my favourite games are, they are always games that were released two decades ago as I can sometimes be very oblivious to new releases, don't have time to try them out or play them once and forget about it! So, I often need to rely on my PlayStation newsletter, my boyfriend and my little sister to update me on these things!
My most recent 'wow I really want to play that!' moment was with 'Injustice: Gods Among Us' ...which my sister very kindly youtubed the trailer on my PC, sat me down and made me press the play button to ensure I actually watched it! ...and here it is:
How amazing does it look!! Injustice is simply a fighting game with characters from the DC Universe. This includes Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman and more. The graphics look great and what makes this different to other fighting games that I've played (not sure how 'new' this idea is though) is that everything around you is tactile and you can use them to your advantage. This reminded me of all the times I've played Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat and wished I could climb up onto another platform and do some sort of diving attack...or throw a car (or spectator!) onto my opponent...I will finally be able to do all this (minus the spectator throwing I think!) in Injustice!! It is due for a 2013 release so I will do a proper review of this game once I've played it!

Computer Games & Muay Thai.

I grew up very closely with my brother who is two years older than me which naturally meant I had to do/did everything he wanted to do, which in turn heavily influenced me to take interest in many 'boy' things! One of these things was computer games!...and even though I am now 27 years old and have a career in Fashion Design (ironic!), I could still easily sit at home and play computer games for hours and hours. One of the games that I played as a child and have never become bored of is Street Fighter...I still even play it to this day on my iPhone! My favourite characters to play with have always been Chun-Li and Sagat because I have something in common with both of them and is when the whole 'women need to have an emotional connection' comes to light! ....I physically cannot play a game that doesn't have an option to be a female character!
Anyway, my point of this post is to say that I have started Muay Thai lessons! I have always wanted to do it since playing Street Fighter and watching countless Martial Arts films (again, because of my brother)....from Bruce Lee, Jean Claude Van Damme, recently Ong-Bak and many many more...but as my brother went on to take Taekwondo lessons as a teenager, for some reason, I ended up doing Gymnastics! I'm not quite sure what happened but I think it was to do with the fact that my father was very traditional when it came to what boys should be doing and what girls should be doing and I guess I never asked to do Taekwondo too because I knew what the answer would be.
....and then of course my interest in Fashion happened and that was all I really focused on for many years!
I did one Muay Thai lesson about 5 years ago but I will talk about that a bit more in my next installment but the idea of doing Muay Thai had popped back into my head again! My little sister who is 11 years younger had also expressed an interest! I felt like I either had to do it now and stick with it or it was never going to happen as it had been going on for long enough...over 20 years!!...and I would hate for my sister to look back when she is in her late 20's wishing she had done it!
So after spending half a day researching on where to do it in London, I found a place that sounded perfect for be continued...(sorry, this post is longer than I anticipated!)
